Tsiribihina & Sainte Marie - Madagascar Travel Tour Expedition

It is a little more comfortable adventure for the descent of tsiribihina river. We travel on the river with a fluffy barge; usually covered. The barge can also be in the shade during the day with spac big space where you can lie. We continue to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park after our trip on the river. The Tsingy is a deformation of the limestone rocks. It is a plateau entirely covered by the sea formerly 200 million years ago. These dead shells and corals that weld together slowly forming successive layers for several tens millions of years. You doubt it … ??? Come in to see the spot. We end our trip by visiting the famous baobabs such us baobabs avenue on the sunset, not to mention the various types of tomb structures SAKALAVA.

Tour and Circuit proposed:

Day 1

Antanananarivo – Miandrivazo

Pick up from your hotel then direction to Antsirabe; we cross first the refreshing highlands with their astonishing mud houses, their small churches perched on nipples or hillside, imposing rocks everywhere, terraced ricefield like a big staircase and sadder but not less spectacular, lavaka or collapse due by the erosion. Arrive at Antsirabe or the city of vichy then break for lunch.

We continue our half journey to Miandrivazo; the landscape changes and everything at all even the temperature because it is the hottest city of Madagascar.

Arrival at the village in the evening then check in to Baobab hotel.

Day 2

Tsiribihina descent in barge

Miandrivazo is a small village surrounded by a large mountainand; the starting point of our trip on Tsiribihina River. First and before all, we should register to the council office and police at Miandrivazo. Departure to Masiakampy where we embark on the river. It is a contemplative trip and very close the nature. Beautiful landscapes along the river with various varieties of birds and chameleons.

Our night is under tent and food in bivouac animated by a campfire.

Day 3

Tsiribihina River

It's the second day on the river; we cross over the gorge of bemaraha in fact cross two systems of throat cut in the limestone up to 50m of high .. It's another world !!!! Kalanchoes, two-colored pachypodiums constitute the flora as well as verreauxi, the fulvus lemur and the nocturnal Microcebus, whistling ducks, humpbacks ...

Always under tent and food in bivouac.

Day 4

Belo/Tsiribihina – Bekopaka

Half day on the river. Parrots, bats and maybe crocodiles will accompaned you during this last day. Departure to Tsingy village in the afternoon. It is a route about 100km but in 4 hours with a good 4wd. We passed in a many small village and the happyness of the children in each village enliven our trip. Crossed the ferry of the Manambolo river then check in to Tanankoay or Orchidées hotel for 2 nights.

Day 5

Tsingy from Bemaraha

This is the day that we have been waiting for several moment; unique in the world, classified world heritage of UNESCO as well as the natural and media inventory of the operation Okavango by Nicolas Hulot, the references and superlatives do not miss to describe these karst formations in forms of needles whose Access ways are as epic as the geological history of its famous peaks.

We start our visit with the big Tsingy; crossed by the gigantic labyrinth and its cathedral; climbing up to the point of view and belvedere then go down to the hanging pond.

Back to the village in the afternoon to visit the small Tsingy.

Day 6

Bekopaka - Morondava

Same way as day 4; 1 hour break at Belo / Tsiribihina to enjoy their shellfish dishes then crossed Tsiribihina river by its ferry and direction to Morondava. It is the region and garden of baobab but the most famous and the avenue of baobabs at sunset.

Check in to Trecicogne hotel.

Day 7

Morondava - Antsirabe

Road return to Antsirabe; we must pass again at Miandrivazo where we will do a small break for lunch. 7km before arriving at Antsirabe, we had to go to the sacred lake Andraikiba and Tritriva to see its mysterious history.

Check in to Green park hotel.

Day 8

Antsirabe - Andasibe

After a good breakfast, we take the opportunity to visit the city like the cathedral, the miniature, the confections of zebu horn and the cutting of precious stones; we do not forget to visit the small market. Road to Antananarivo; tasting of fat duck menu at Behenjy and visit of the manufacturing aluminum pot at Ambatolampy.

Arrival at the village in the evening then check in to Feon'ny Ala for 2 nights.

Day 9

Andasibe

The park regroup the special reserve INDRI INDRI. The reserve is indeed famous for its INDRIS colonies with a powerful shout and impressive size. A 4 hour tour will be offered on ANALAMAZAOTRA circuit; departure to VAKONA reserve in the afternoon.

Day 10

Andasibe – Manambato – Ankanin’ny Nofy

Road to Tamatave; on 60km before Tamatave we will turn on left for about 7km. This is the small village called Manambato where we will take the boat to Ankanin'ny Nofy or the dream nest. Boat trip on the pangalane chanal arround 1 hours.

Check in to Palmarium then visit of the the reserve where the opportunity for you to revise your range in terms of lemurs. More species in freedom, totally accustomed to the prescience of the man and who mingle happily between them. Other endemic plants are to be discovered as the xerophyte plant, acacias with yellow flowers ...

Day 11

Palmarium – Tamatave - Mahambo

Return by boat to Manambato; departure to Tamatave. It is the first commercial port of Madagascar as well as the capital of the EST and the Betsimisaraka ethnic group. We will have lunch and then we will go directly to Mahambo.

Check in to La Pirogue hotel.

Day 12

Mahambo – Sainte Marie

And now, driver's service will finished here; you crossed the sea with safe speed boat to join St.Marie. Assistance to the port then transfer to Lakana hotel and check in there for 3 nights.

Day 13 - 14

Sainte Marie

St.Marie is the most spectacular city to see whales from June to September. It is not at all, but there are the beautiful beaches on the paradisiac island with mats. St.Marie has more than 20,000 inhabitants but they are all nice and charming. To enjoy our vacation, we spent 2 days on site to discover; excursions at sea will be possible, by mountain bike but all this is to see directly with the hotel.

Day 15

Correspondence for Antananarivo

Transfer to St.Marie airport then internal flight to Antananarivo

Visit of the city like Queen Palace, buying some souvenirs at Digue market.
